Interactive Exhibition Design : AIM (Asteroid Impact Mission)
" how to create an engagement and awareness of long-term space missions for citizens, with an playful and informative method?"
I am currently (Feb-June 2016) working on a project called "Space Challenge" at MediaLAB Amsterdam. The project is to design an informative & playful method/content, to create an awareness and engagement about long-term space missions, such as AIM(Asteroid Impact Mission) proceeded by ESA(European Space Agency) for European citizens. For the project,
I suggested an exhibition as the best medium, and designed an interactive exhibition where you can play games on smart-phones/mobile devices.
Exhibition gives not only first-hand experience but also can be playful and informative. It gives you a more immersive and engaging experience than screen-based media since you walk around in the (surrounding/encloseing) space yourself.
The exhibition starts with general information about Asteroids and how AIM is important to the human race. The center of the space, with interactive signals/sensors placed in the space, the audience can play games on their mobile device about process of AIM while they are walking through the exhibition. The end of the exhibition, there will be a polygon-art installation of an asteroid. Each of faces of the installation will have Augumented-Reality sensors where you can see images of space collected by ESA through smart phones.
With the Exhibition, the audience will get a full engaging experience and have better understanding or space missions, such as AIM.
